Wardrobe Wednesday Reflection - Boxwood Wine, Pink Peeks & Bottom Pats: Confidence After Class
After class this week, I went home and slipped into a look that felt exactly right: my boxwood wine Old Navy yoga pants, a cropped sweatshirt to match, and those sweet black ballet flats with the dainty little strap. But what really pulled it all together? A pale pink longline sports bra peeking out just enough to say, yes, I’m a little flirty too.
I met a couple of the ladies from class at the wine bar—and the second I walked in, the compliments started flying. “Alice, stop!” “Look at you!” One of them gave me a playful pat on the bottom and said, “You’re seriously too cute.” Then came the classic tease: “The only thing you're missing is heels.” But when she glanced down and saw the sweet little ballet flats with their strap, she paused, smiled, and said, "Never mind. These are girlier yet."
And then—oh yes—they spotted it.
“You did not wear a baby pink sports bra under wine,” one of them laughed.
“Oh I so did,” I smiled.
“That’s too much. You knew what you were doing!”
I was blushing, smiling, floating.
Then I set my tote down on the bench beside me, and one of the girls wrinkled her nose and said, “Okay... what smells so wonderful right now?” I smiled and said, “It’s probably my tote.”
She lit up. “Can I look?”
“Sure,” I said.
She picked it up and placed it in her lap, curiously poking inside. Her hand brushed against the soft top of my diaper—just peeking out from the open edge—and she gently pulled it up a little with wide eyes and a grin. “Oh my god, is this what you're wearing right now?”
I nodded, soft and proud. “Yes. It is.”
She didn’t flinch. She beamed. “It’s adorable.”
Then she held the tote closer and sighed. “Mmm… whatever this scent is—it’s amazing.” (It was my Bois de Balincourt.) She spotted my lip gloss nestled in there too. “This is so you.”
That moment—that quiet, almost sacred curiosity and total acceptance—was everything. She didn’t make a joke. She didn’t recoil. She loved it. She loved me.
๐ So here’s what I want to say to you, sweet reader: there is so much joy still out there for you. Even if you're padded. Even if you carry baby pants in your bag. Even if you think no one could ever look at you with sparkly eyes again. They can. They will.
Show up. Be soft. Smell good. Let your pink sports bra peek.
You might just get patted on the bottom, giggled over, and gently adored—all in one night.
You are allowed to bloom.
