Wardrobe Wednesday - A Week in Yoga Pants and Leggings with Alice
One of the things I’ve learned about myself is that life feels softer, easier, and more authentic when I lean into what makes me comfortable. For me, that means wearing yoga pants and leggings as my daily uniform—and yes, having the security of diapers and plastic pants underneath.
I used to think leggings were only for the gym or lounging at home. But this past week, I committed to living fully in them: seven days, no exceptions. Just outfits, outings, and daily life. Here’s how it unfolded:
Monday: A Simple Start
I began the week with olive drab leggings and a black embroidered tunic with a ruffled hem. The tunic floated just low enough to soften outlines, while the leggings remained the focus. Black boots grounded the look.
Running errands used to be filled with dread, but this outfit let me feel composed and relaxed. I even caught my reflection in a shop window and thought: Yes. This is me.
Tuesday: Yoga Flow
For yoga, I wore lavender 7/8 leggings with a white tank over my sports bra, and added some extra padding underneath for peace of mind. During reclined bound angle pose, I felt secure, not self-conscious.
I spritzed on baby powder perfume and glossed my lips—because yoga for me is as much about presence as posture. After class, smoothie in hand, I felt light, refreshed, and whole.
Wednesday: Café Style
Midweek, I leaned into style. My boxwood wine leggings paired perfectly with a cream top and soft cardigan. A scrunchie and watch stacked on my wrist, and a bold lipstick pulled it together.
At the café, sipping an oat milk latte with my pastel swirl tote at my side, I carried not just essentials but confidence. No one noticed anything unusual—but I did, and that was enough.
Thursday: Professional Balance
Work called for a polished look. Navy yoga pants with a structured deep green tunic struck the right balance: neat, professional, and still forgiving.
Through meetings and conversations, I carried the quiet reassurance of being prepared underneath. That dual reality—professional outside, comfortable inside—wasn’t a burden. It was strength.
Friday: Wine Bar Evening
Friday evening, I slipped into my vineyard set: boxwood wine leggings with a matching jacket over a cream tank. Chic and pulled together, with just a hint of sparkle.
I spritzed on Bois de Balincourt, carried my nylon tote, and felt radiant at the wine bar with rosé in hand. This wasn’t about concealing—it was about showing up fully as myself.
Saturday: Errands & Lunch
For errands and shopping, I chose mint fleece shorts and a flowing white tunic. Comfortable sneakers kept the look casual and easy.
Trying on a new embroidered tunic in the mirror, I didn’t see someone hiding—I saw someone authentic. Lunch at a sidewalk café was the perfect finish, sunlight warm and laughter easy.
Sunday: Rest & Renewal
Sundays are for slowing down. Lavender leggings with a matching bra and open-back tank carried me through restorative yoga.
In supported bridge pose, I felt fully present. What I wore beneath wasn’t something to manage—it was simply part of my softness, part of my wholeness. After class, a green smoothie and pastel tote slung over my shoulder reminded me: this is my life. And it’s beautiful.
Reflections
A week in leggings and yoga pants didn’t change me—it revealed me. I can be professional, playful, stylish, or soft, all while choosing what makes me comfortable underneath.
More than anything, this reminded me that being Alice in Yoga Pants isn’t a costume. It’s simply who I am.
