Wardrobe Wednesday: Dressing for the Gym or Yoga—Even in Diapers (Like Me)

Welcome to Wardrobe Wednesday!

Each week, I’m sharing real-life outfit ideas, tips, and reflections on how I dress for yoga, the gym, and daily life while managing incontinence. For me, that means wearing thick diapers and plastic baby pants under everything I own—and still showing up with softness, style, and confidence.

Whether you wear protection too, or just need gentle encouragement to feel good in your body, I hope you find a little inspiration here. 💗

🌸 Dressing for the Studio (Yes, With Diapers)

When I first started doing yoga again, I had no idea what to wear. Not just for style—but for security, comfort, and confidence. I needed protection I could trust… and I also wanted to look cute. That’s not always an easy combo when you’re padded and crinkly underneath.

But after four months of consistent practice, dozens of classes, and a few wonderfully squeaky mishaps—I’ve figured out what works.

🩷 Base Layer: Protection First

  • Diaper: I use thick but trim-fitting adult diapers—high-capacity but not too bulky at the thighs. It helps minimize waddle while still keeping me dry during longer sessions

  • Plastic Pants: I always wear a pair over my diaper, both for leak protection and extra confidence
Bonus: They smooth everything out under clothes and keep that soft padded feel locked in

🧘‍♀️ Mid Layer: Coverage + Shape

  • Yoga Pants or Leggings: High-rise leggings (Old Navy PowerSoft, Lululemon Align) are my go-to. They hold everything in and give a smooth silhouette

  • Short Shorts: I wear 3.5" athletic shorts over my diaper and plastic pants for hot yoga or restorative classes—light, airy, and a little cheeky

  • Joggers: Soft and forgiving for lower-key days or errands—especially if I’m wearing a thicker diaper

👚 Top Layer: Soft + Flowing

  • Longline Activewear Top: For when I want more coverage and stability, especially when paired with high-rise bottoms. This top isn’t the only thing holding me together today 💕

  • Crop Tanks or Tees: Slightly oversized —stylish and breathable

  • Long Performance Tops: On days I want more coverage, these are a lifesaver. Just past the hips, they drape gently and help conceal the puff

  • Hoodies, Wraps & Layers: For entering or leaving class, a cozy layer gives just the right amount of comfort and confidence

🧺 A Few Real-Life Outfits

💦 Monday Flow Class

  • White diaper + pastel baby pants

  • Lavender PowerSoft leggings

  • Lavender longline activewear top

  • Loose white flowing tank

  • My black tote bag full of essentials

🌙 Restorative Yoga (Night Class)

  • Overnight diaper + clear plastic pants

  • Black 3.5" Old Navy shorts

  • Gray oversized crop hoodie

  • Soft strap peeking out

  • Diaper squeaks gently during savasana, and no one cares 💖

🌼 Midweek Studio Class (Longer Top Day)

  • Thicker daytime diaper + plastic pants

  • Navy blue leggings

  • Teal longline performance top (drapes just past the hips)

  • Navy longline activewear top underneath

  • Light, comfy, and gives me a bit more privacy when I need it

🌺 Future Cruise Daydream (Yes, She’s Coming)

  • Thick morning diaper + pastel plastic pants

  • Soft cotton harem pants (Lotus & Luna, still waiting for talls!)

  • White fitted tank tucked in

  • light blue longline activewear top + a straw tote

  • Sandals, a light breeze, and a whole lot of swish and crinkle under deck yoga

I love mixing up my looks depending on the day.
Some days, I want to be playful and bold in short shorts.
Other days, I want the comfort of a longer top and a quiet, flowing silhouette.
Both are valid. Both are me.

🌿 Final Thoughts

You don’t have to flatten, shrink, or hide your body to belong in the yoga studio.

Whether you’re dressing around incontinence, a prosthesis, post-surgery changes, or just want to feel secure in your softness—there’s a way to do it with comfort, beauty, and you at the center.

I’m still learning, but here’s what I’ve found:

Confidence isn’t about looking perfect.
It’s about dressing in a way that lets you show up.

And for me? That means crinkling just a little and knowing…

Every crinkle counts. 🩷

See you next Wardrobe Wednesday 💕
