Support Sunday Reminder: Why the “Why” Matters

Just a little reminder from me, Alice in Yoga Pants. 🌸

When incontinence first entered my life, I’ll admit—I did what so many of us do. I stayed up late at night with my phone, Googling every possible cause, reading medical articles I barely understood, and scrolling through endless posts online. It felt like if I could just find the right explanation, I’d finally feel in control.

But here’s what I’ve learned: searching like that rarely brings peace. It usually brings more confusion, more fear, and sometimes even shame.

What does help? This community. Here, we can share the “how” with each other:

  • What diapers, pads, or covers actually work.

  • How to care for our skin and prevent irritation.

  • Which clothing choices or layering tricks make us feel confident.

  • Even yoga stretches, breathing, and routines that make daily life softer.

That’s the beauty of being together—we get to swap ideas, lift each other up, and remind ourselves that we’re not alone.

But the “why”—the reason your body is doing what it’s doing—that part truly belongs with a medical professional. For me, finally getting an answer took away so much of the guessing. It gave me permission to stop chasing every possibility and instead focus on living well, with the tools and routines that actually work for me.

And the truth is, every body is different. There isn’t one universal cause or solution. You deserve to know your own story, not just a collection of “maybes” from the internet.

So lean on us here—I do all the time. But if you’re feeling stuck in the swirl of “why is this happening?” or “what’s next?”, give yourself the gift of clarity. Talk to a doctor, ask the hard questions, and let them help guide you.

Because here’s the most important part: you’re worth the effort. You’re worth answers. And you’re worth the peace that comes from finally knowing.
