Let Us Wear What Lets Us Breathe
![]() |
Let us move in peace. Let us stretch without shame. Let
us wear what lets us breathe. |
Please stop.
Yoga is meant to be a practice of connection, breath, self-awareness, and non-judgment. It is not a space to measure others against your comfort zone, your gender expectations, or your need for control.
I wear leggings and yoga pants because they allow me to move freely, feel comfortable, and—frankly—because I like how they feel. That’s it. That’s the reason. And I don’t owe anyone more justification than that.
But here's what I will say:
When you comment, sneer, whisper, or make someone feel less-than because they don’t fit your idea of who should wear what… you’re not protecting yoga. You’re polluting it.
Some of us walk into that studio carrying invisible battles—health issues, gender expression, trauma, recovery. For me, wearing leggings over thick diapers and plastic pants isn’t a fashion statement—it’s about necessity, courage, and self-acceptance. You don’t have to understand it. But you do need to respect that I showed up anyway.
So the next time you feel tempted to shame someone for what they’re wearing, pause. Ask yourself what part of you feels threatened by their freedom.
And then choose silence—or better yet, kindness.
We all deserve to breathe fully and move freely. That includes me. That includes everyone.
Namaste.
